Senior National Anthem Try-Outs
Attention Seniors! Are you interested in representing your class by singing the National Anthem at your graduation ceremony? Auditions this year will initially be held via a video prescreening process - videos will be due Tuesday, April 23rd. Top scoring students from the prescreening will be invited for a live callback on Tuesday, April 30th. MODEL UN:
Congratulations to Model UN students, who recently won an award of distinction at the National High School Model United Nations conference. This recognition is reserved for the top three schools out of the nearly 200 who attended. Model UN is an extra-curricular activity in which students simulate the workings of the United Nations. Students investigate topics of global interest such as how to respond to the needs of refugees, controlling fossil fuel emissions, and illicit arms trade, while they improve their skills at research and debate. See Mr. Sklarenko if you are interested in participating.
ROBOTICS:
Congratulations to our RUHS robotics team, Beach Cities Robotics, who placed high enough to progress on to the First Robotics WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS! 24 students from our team will travel to Houston, Texas April 17th – 20th for the championships.
UCLA BLOOD DRIVE:
Attention Sea Hawks! Sign-ups for the May 1st UCLA Blood Drive are currently open from April 1st to April 24th, so make sure you sign up as soon as possible! You will find the link to sign up in your rbusd email! The Blood Drive will be held on May 1st during first and third period, and you must be 16 years or older by the day of the Blood Drive! Make sure to sign up!
DO YOU DANEC?
Now is your chance to show off your dance skills at our annual RUHS Dance Showcase! Individual, partner and group routines are all welcome. Auditions will be on Tuesday, April 23rd from 3:00 to 5:00 pm in the dance room, so prepare your routines! We will have a short info meeting at lunch on Thursday April 18th in room 112. See Ms. Clayton with any questions!
NATIONAL COLLEGE FAIR:
The National College Fair is coming to the Anaheim Convention Center on Sunday, April 14. You’ll get a chance to meet admissions counselors from over 100 colleges around the U.S. The Nest will provide free bus transportation. Come to the Nest to pick up a permission slip.
ACADEMIC DECATHLON:
Redondo Union Academic Decathlon is back from four days of high-stakes competition at the state round in Sacramento, and we placed fourth in Division Three! Additional congrats for the following decathletes who medaled:
- Max Black: Bronze medal in mathematics
- Jacob Chavez: Bronze medal in economics
- Kenneth Pak: Silver medal in mathematics
- Sebastian Houseknecht: Gold medal in art; gold medal in social science
- Poorvi Gorripati: Silver medal in speech; silver medal in interview
- Soleil Engin: Gold medal in art; silver medal in literature; highest scoring decathlete of the team; Second highest scoring decathlete in Division Three, overall!

Please remember that RUHS has a strict dress code policy that needs to be adhered to. Failure to do so will result in having to change and/or fix your outfit. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask any adult on campus, or look on the website or in your school planner for the dress code policy of what is allowable and what is not.
PARKING AT RUHS:
Staff and Students: All parking spots are assigned and permitted. In order for you to park in the parking lot during the school day, you MUST have been assigned a designated spot. Please do not park in the parking lot if you did not receive a spot, you will be towed.
