STELLAR SEA HAWK OF THE MONTH:

WE BECOME ONE AT REDONDO UNION:

No matter where our RBUSD students begin their educational journeys, their paths always lead to Redondo Union High School. Let’s showcase our unity and support our current and future Sea Hawks, by helping upgrade the outdated and malfunctioning RUHS digital marquee on N. PCH. Our goal is to raise $50,000, and if every RBUSD family could donate at least $6 per enrolled student, we could easily reach this goal. FREEDOM FOR YOU:

PODS is a fun new group project for high school students to participate in to explore future career paths! Groups of students will be working collaboratively with other teens. With the benefits of

learning about career paths, students involved will be able to receive letters of reference or recommendation for character and achievement, volunteer hours and service learning opportunities.

CAML:

There will be three different Math Contests available for RUHS students in February.

The 5th California Math League (CAML) Contest will take place on Wednesday February 17 at 2:15 PM (for students in Geometry or higher).

The American Mathematics Competitions, the AMC 10 (for 10th grade and lower) and the AMC 12 (for 12th grade and lower) will both take place on Wednesday February 10 at 2:15 PM.

Please check with your math teacher about how to sign up!

 RUHS ACADEMIC DECATHLON:

RUHS Academic Decathlon is competing in their regional competition this week and next. Tomorrow is Speech & Interview and next Saturday are the objective exams and Super Quiz! Wish them great

success as they vie for competing at state this year! The RUHS Aca Dec “Competition” team is Captain April Luce, Co-Captain Max Miller, Maya González, Andrew Birch, Diego Edwards, Kat Nguyen, Theo

Danial, and Laxmi Upadhyaya. The RUHS Aca Dec JV team is Captain Tal Levy, Co-Captain Camilla Brennan, Dash Miller, Amadeo Navarrete, Andrew Suncin, Stephanie Wong, and Lynze Siegel.

2020-2021 YEARBOOK PHOTOS:

The staff of the yearbook is working on putting together the 2021 Pilot, but as you know traditional student photos have not been taken yet. In order to guarantee that we can include everyone in the

yearbook, we need your help. Please see the attached instructions for uploading your own photos for use in the yearbook. We are asking you to use the HJ eShare app, provided by Herf Jones, to upload your photos to our yearbook staff. See complete details in the letter attached. DEADLINE IS 2/1/2021!

GIRLS LACROSSE:

There will be open tryouts for girls lacrosse on Tuesday 2/9 from  3 - 4PM on the lacrosse field. Wear workout clothes, running shoes, shorts and a tee shirt. Bring a water bottle. Bring your own lacrosse stick and goggles. You must have a Covid Green screen to try out.

TENNIS TRYOUT:

We will have team try outs for Junior Varsity and Varsity on February 2nd-5th, 2021. Where: Upper and Lower Courts located on Vincent Ave. When: February 2nd-5th 3- 4:30pm

You will need to have your Student covid screened for entry. https://bchdcovidscreen.org Please bring 2 rackets, water and a snack. We will provide tennis balls. If you have any questions, please reach out to Coach Beches at [email protected]

BASEBALL TRYOUTS:

The tryouts will be Tuesday, February 2nd through Friday, February 5th. The tryouts will take place between the hours of 3:00-6:00 and will be by appointment only via Google Form attached to this email.

SCROC INFO:

SoCal ROC Spring semester online courses begin Monday, February 8th! There are still spaces available for Emergency Medical/First Responder, Kinesiology/Sports Medicine and Principles of Clinical Medical Assisting. Earn high school elective credits while learning valuable skills and exploring an essential career in the medical field! Courses are FREE for high school students! Contact your school counselor for more information.

LIBRARY INFO:

At the start of the new semester, there will be a great enough number of students coming to the library getting new books, that it is necessary to organize a process. Therefore, the library will follow the schedule below. The library will be open for this purpose from 1:00 pm to 3:30 pm on each of these days.
