SUMMER SCHOOL INFORMATION:

Having a tough year academically? It is our goal at RUHS to provide every student with the opportunity to succeed.  Summer School is a great opportunity to repeat a course to meet graduation or a-g/college-ready requirements, and get back on track.

RUHS is offering tuition-free remediation summer school courses in English 9-11 grades, Algebra 1 A/B, Geometry A/B, Algebra 2A/B, Biology A/B, Chemistry A/B, and all core special ed. courses.

Summer School sign-ups will begin this week during snack, lunch, and after school until 3:30.  Eligible students will be emailed a summer school letter.

Please print, and bring your completed and signed summer school letter to your counselor on the designated day. Summer School seats are limited, and enrollment is on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Juniors, you get first priority and your Summer School Registration Days are this Thursday & Friday, May 5th & 6th.

Sophomores, you can register for Summer School on Monday and Tuesday, May 9th & 10th.

And Freshmen, your Summer School Registration days are Wednesday and Thursday, May 11th and 12th.

If you need it, don’t miss out on this great opportunity to get back on track.

RUHS ACA DEC:

Not only has the competition team placed 4th at regionals and 2nd at state, but Theodore Danial has brought home his own personal trophy by having the highest score of ANY OTHER decathlete in the entire regional competition—first place!! Theo also earned a $500 scholarship for his Amazing  finish, and every decathlete earned a 4th place medal for their accomplishments, along with their TEAM TROPHY.

RUHS COMEDYSPORTZ:

Come down to the Auditorium on Friday May 6th at 7 p.m. for the final ComedySportz match of the year! Help us celebrate our Senior Class of 22 as they play their last game and enjoy a night dedicated to their time on the team! Tickets will be cash only and are $5 with ASB, and $7 without! We hope to see you there!!

SoCal ROC:

The new SoCal ROC Fall 2022 semester schedule is now available in The Nest! Earn high school elective credits while learning valuable skills that prepare you for college and/or an entry-level career! Courses are after school and FREE for high school students! Your SoCal ROC career guidance specialist is available to answer any questions in The Nest every Thursday during 2nd period and snack. Add your name to the sign up sheet in The Nest to meet with her ASAP!

RUHS CHEER TRYOUTS:

Do you have spirit? RUHS Cheer wants to hear it! Tryouts for the 2022-2023 cheer team will be May 2nd – May 6th. Requirements to tryout are knowledge of cheer motions and drills, 2.0 GPA or greater, positive standing with all teachers, and a coachable athlete mindset. Add the RUHS Cheer Tryout Google Classroom with add code: 4rufhgj if interested. The Google classroom page has the application, waivers, and teacher recommendation forms you need to tryout. You can find the flyer for tryouts posted on campus and copies of required documents in front of the Culinary Arts classroom. Email Ms. Byars at [email protected] if you have any questions. RUHS CHOIR PERFORMING NATIONAL ANTHEM:

Are you a baseball fan? Want discount tickets? RUHS Choir will be performing the national anthem at the Angels vs Nationals game on May 6th, and will be selling discounted tickets to RUHS students. Tickets will be available for pre-order for only $20 in the student union through April 1st, and will be available for pick up the last week of April. Come support the choir and see a great game!

ATTENTION SENIORS: 

Attention Seniors: This year's Senior Excursion will take place on Wednesday, May 25th at California Adventure. Make sure to purchase your tickets at the same time as your friends so that you can all ride on the same bus. Starting on Wednesday, March 9th the prices for the Senior Excursion to California Adventure will go up in price. Students with a senior sticker pay $155 and students without pay $165. Jump on getting your tickets now before the price increases! Permission slips need to be submitted in order to purchase a ticket. These can be found in your Government/Economics classes. There are NO refunds once tickets have been purchased. 

Are you interested in joining ASB and being a leader on campus for the 2022-23 school year? There is an informational meeting on Friday, March 25th, at lunch in the ASB room, which is upstairs in the front office. Come to this meeting if you are interested in running for an elected position or interviewing for an appointed role, or just want to learn more about what it takes to be in ASB. Application packets will also be available at this meeting, so make sure to come on Friday if you are interested in joining ASB next school year.

BSU- Black Student Union:

BSU is a safe place for students to feel connected and develop a support system with students of color at RUHS. Our student leader is Reiss Collier and our staff leader is assistant principal Marvin Brown. We will be meeting at the top of the Student Union every other Thursday during lunch. All Sea Hawks are welcome. We look forward to seeing you soon!

HIPHOP CLUB:

Interested in Performing during rallies? Then Hiphop is the place for you. They’re currently looking for dancers to perform in the spring rally. You do not have to be experienced at all. SPEECH AND DEBATE CLUB:

Do you have a passion for debating? Do you want to sharpen up your speech skills? Then the speech and debate club is the right place for you! At Speech and Debate club, we perform activities that not only help improve speech writing skills, but also improve your confidence, debating skills, and much more. Speech and Debate club meets Mondays during lunch in room 802. Be sure to stop by!

MATH TUTORING:

Are you confused during math class? Is there a homework problem that you can't figure out? Head on down to the math tutoring club in room 313 every Tuesday and Thursday during lunch. You will receive personalized, 1-on-1 help from your peers, absolutely free. We can provide you alternate pathways to answers that your teachers don't teach you during class. Sea Hawks, if you want to help your peers improve their math abilities and earn community service hours, you can become a tutor by coming to one of our club meetings.

CHEMISTRY TUTORING:

Do you need help with your chemistry homework or preparing for an exam? Head on down to the Chem tutoring club in room 122 every Tuesday and Friday during lunch. You will receive personalized, one-on-one help from your peers, absolutely free. All students are welcome.

BIOLOGY TUTORING:

Biology peer tutoring will be available to all levels on Tuesdays, in Mrs. Frames' room (room 126), after school from 3:00 to 3:30.  We’re also looking for current or former AP Biology students to be tutors, so if you feel confident and are interested in peer tutoring for service hours, please come to Mrs. Frame’s room after school on Tuesday September 21st  for the first meeting. PUBLIC BUSES:

Sea Hawks! Per Federal Regulations, masks are required on buses until April 18th. If you are using Beach Cities Transport, please wear a mask.  

LIBRARY PRINTING:

The library staff will print your assignments for $.10 per page. Purchase a printing punch card for $1.00 and receive 11 pages or supply your own white paper. 

SCHOOL BREAKFAST & LUNCH:

Free breakfast and lunch meals will be available for all students, each day in the Student Union and at the two pods. A la carte snacks and drinks will be available for purchase outside at the snack windows. Students must have their student ID with them to scan for the cashier when receiving free meals or purchasing snack items. Cash payments will no longer be accepted. COVID-19 UPDATE:

Sea Hawks, please do your respectful part by keeping yourself and those around you safe. 

  • Masking is now optional, however strongly recommended indoors and also outdoors in large crowds. Need a mask?  They are available in the Health Office.
  • Maintain distance from others
  • Frequently wash/sanitize your hands; especially before and after eating
  • Actively answer the questions when passively screening before coming to campus
  • Contact school personnel immediately (attendance office) upon COVID-19 symptoms, exposure, and/or positive test(s).
