FIRST ANNUAL TEEN JOB FAIR
We are excited to announce the First Annual Teen Job Fair on Thursday May 11th at 12:50pm in the RUHS campus Student Union. This is a great chance to showcase businesses in the community AND for our eager work-ready students to find employment for the summer, and beyond. If your business or a business you know of may be interested in attending the Teen Job Fair to connect with students and our campus community at large, please fill out this Google Form or respond to this email.
COMEDYSPORTZ
Come send off our Seniors at the last ComedySportz Match of the year! Join us for a celebration of our graduating players in the ComedySportz senior match, full of love, laughs, and old people. The ComedySportz Senior Match is Friday, May 12th at 5:30 pm. Tickets are $7, but are only $5 with ASB! We hope to see you there at the grand finale of our ComedySportz season!
RBEF LIGHT UP THE NIGHT
Hello Sea Hawk families! On Friday, May 12, RBEF will be holding their annual spring event, Light Up the Night, at the Portofino Hotel in Redondo Beach. This event is always a fun and relaxing way to celebrate the end of another school year as a community. Hope you will join us there! Tickets are available for $195 at www.rbef.org/gala and include food, drinks, casino games, and more! All event proceeds support RBEF and the Redondo Beach public schools. Hello, Sea Hawk Community! We have changed the venue of our Talent Show from the RUHS auditorium to the student union at lunch on May 17th and 19th! We are so excited to see our talented students perform and we hope to see you there!
RBPD TEENS IN POLICING SUMMER PROGRAM
The Redondo Beach Police Department is excited to announce they will be offering their Teens in Policing program this summer. The program is designed to provide youth of the community opportunities to explore how modern policing works through learning activities, interaction, and discussion between teens and law enforcement personnel. Classes are open to 7th-12th grade students and will be held on Thursday afternoons from 2-4:00 p.m. at the RBPD Annex. Please see the attached flyers for more information.

Researchers at Harvard have shown that the number one way to improve mental health is to practice mindfulness. Join us at lunch in the Wellness Center to learn about new and unique strategies to practice mindfulness with Counselor and Mindfulness Coach, Rachel Rush!

The benefits of trauma informed Yoga for the body and mind are incredible. Join us for a relaxing yoga session at lunch in the Wellness Center with Ms. Andrews and Snr. Duran. Mats are provided!
Friday, May 12th LIFE HACKS FOR the NEURODIVERGENT
Many adults and teens have discovered that they are neurodivergent, with autism, ADHD, or both. Being neurodivergent in a neurotypical world can be challenging, but there are ways to make life easier. Join us at lunch in the Wellness Center with therapist, Penn Shelton.
Monday, May 15th HEALING WITH HENNA WORKSHOP
Expressive techniques such as henna have been used for thousands of years to promote mental health and well-being. Join us with Junior, Lalitha Muttulingam for a henna tutorial on Monday at lunch in the Wellness Center.
Tuesday, May 16th COPING SKILLS WORKSHOP
Not all coping mechanisms are created equal, and certain things work better for teens. Join us at lunch in the Wellness Center next Tuesday with Junior, Kinsey Rundquist to discuss coping techniques and strategies that work for today’s South Bay high schooler.
Wednesday, May 17th RUHS MENTAL HEALTH FAIR
All students and staff are invited to stop by the Student Union quad at lunch to visit one of 30 community booths promoting Mental Health awareness including green ribbons, fun stickers, and face painting stations, hosted by the RUHS NAMI Club!
BCHD RESOURCES
May is Mental Health Awareness Month. Beach Cities Health District (BCHD) is kicking off the month of May with their community-wide “Mental Health is Health” campaign in partnership with Redondo Beach Unified School District (RBUSD). The campaign’s message aims to decrease stigma, increase help seeking behaviors, increase awareness of and access to resources for mental health, and build community capacity to support individuals who need mental health resources. Throughout the month of May, BCHD and RBUSD will be hosting a variety of activities to support mental health on our campuses and in the community. Please click here for the calendar of community events, including the Mindfulness Summit at Parras Middle School on May 6 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.. Please click here to register. On May 13 from 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m., Adams Middle School will hold a Health and Wellness Festival. Please click here to register. In addition, our community partner, South Bay Families Connected (SBFC), offers RBUSD families a variety of youth wellness resources. For Mental Health Awareness Month, SBFC offers resource pages covering trending youth wellness topics on the minds of parents and caregivers:

SOCAL ROC
Attention Students: SoCal ROC Spring semester enrollment has begun! Earn high school elective credits while learning valuable skills that prepare you for college and/or an entry-level career. Courses are after school and FREE for high school students. FREE bus transportation is also available to and from our center for all RUHS students enrolled in our 1:15pm and 4:15pm classes. Your SoCal ROC career guidance specialist is available in the Nest to answer any questions every Thursday during 2nd period and snack. Add your name to the signup sheet in the Nest to meet with her ASAP!
