JAZZ UNDER THE STARS

The annual Jazz Under the Stars concert is Friday, June 2 at 6:00 PM. Come bring a blanket/lawn chair and enjoy some fantastic music from our wonderful Sea Hawk musicians.

 

RBPD TEENS IN POLICING SUMMER PROGRAM
The Redondo Beach Police Department is excited to announce they will be offering their Teens in Policing program this summer. The program is designed to provide youth of the community opportunities to explore how modern policing works through learning activities, interaction, and discussion between teens and law enforcement personnel. Classes are open to 7th-12th grade students and will be held on Thursday afternoons from 2-4:00 p.m. at the RBPD Annex. Please see the attached flyers for more information.

 

REDONDO BEACH PUBLIC LIBRARY- SUMMER VOLUNTEERS WANTED!
The Redondo Beach Public Library is looking for Teen volunteers to help during our 2023 Summer Reading Program. May - August.  See flyer for more details.

 

MAY IS MENTAL HEALTH MONTH!

Hello, Sea Hawks! As you know, May is Mental Health Awareness Month. RUHS has a lot of great activities to help increase awareness and help all of our Sea Hawks thrive!!!. Please see the attached flyer for specific dates and locations. 

 

BCHD RESOURCES
May is Mental Health Awareness Month. Beach Cities Health District (BCHD) is kicking off the month of May with their community-wide “Mental Health is Health” campaign in partnership with Redondo Beach Unified School District (RBUSD). The campaign’s message aims to decrease stigma, increase help seeking behaviors, increase awareness of and access to resources for mental health, and build community capacity to support individuals who need mental health resources.  Throughout the month of May, BCHD and RBUSD will be hosting a variety of activities to support mental health on our campuses and in the community. Please click here for the calendar of community events, including the Mindfulness Summit at Parras Middle School on May 6 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.. Please click here to register.  On May 13 from 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m., Adams Middle School will hold a Health and Wellness Festival. Please click here to register.  In addition, our community partner, South Bay Families Connected (SBFC), offers RBUSD families a variety of youth wellness resources. For Mental Health Awareness Month, SBFC offers  resource pages covering trending youth wellness topics on the minds of parents and caregivers:

Understanding and managing stress and anxiety

 

Helping youth build healthy relationships and fostering empathy and compassion

8-Week Family-to-Family Support Group

Thursdays, starting April 13 from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. An educational program for family and friends of persons with mental health conditions, including treatment, recovery and more. Call (310) 374-5706 to RSVP by April 20.

Family Support Group

Every 2nd Wednesday of the month5:30 – 7 p.m. A group of families helping other families who live with mental health challenges by utilizing their collective lived experiences and learned wisdom. Call (310) 374-5706 to register.

Family Coaching

Family coaching is available for parents/caregivers on how to build a strong and lasting relationship with their young person. Call (310) 374-5706 to make an appointment.

SOCAL ROC

Attention Students: SoCal ROC Spring semester enrollment has begun! Earn high school elective credits while learning valuable skills that prepare you for college and/or an entry-level career. Courses are after school and FREE for high school students. FREE bus transportation is also available to and from our center for all RUHS students enrolled in our 1:15pm and 4:15pm classes. Your SoCal ROC career guidance specialist is available in the Nest to answer any questions every Thursday during 2nd period and snack. Add your name to the signup sheet in the Nest to meet with her ASAP!
