ANNOUNCEMENTS

 

Calendar Update

There will be a change to our bell schedule on the following dates: 

 

  • Tuesday, January 21
  • Monday, March 17
  • Monday, May 12
  • Monday, June 2

 

Previously scheduled to start at 9:25 am, these four dates will now follow the “8:30 am Stacked (A) Schedule” available on the Bell Schedule tab of our school website. There will be no zero period on these days. 

 

On our school website, the   RUHS SY 24-25 Weekly Calendar and RUHS SY 24-25 Community Calendar have also been updated to reflect the bell schedule changes on the four dates noted above.

 

We will communicate reminders to the community in advance of each date.

 

CAL KIDS

To help give parents/caregivers a kickstart to saving, the state of California has officially launched the nation’s largest college savings program. The California Kids Investment and Development Savings (CalKIDs) program will help eligible low-income families with students enrolled in public school’s access college savings created in their children’s names, with seed investments between $500 and $1,500. Children of low-income families currently in grades 1-12, and newborns born in California on or after July 1, 2022, qualify. FAMILIES CONNECTED

“Did you know that RBUSD schools are among South Bay Families Connected's 115 Partner Schools? Through this partnership, our parents and staff have free access to resources and educational events addressing a wide array of youth wellness topics, from healthy tech use to substance use prevention. We invite you to attend any of their upcoming events, including screenings of the new Screenagers film and the fentanyl prevention film “Come Back Home", as well as the monthly Families Connected Parent Chat support group. Be sure to check-out this month’s Families Connected newsletter and sign-up to gain access to new resources and events each month. RUHS PTSA is excited to announce our first RUHS Trunk or Treat Event on Saturday, October 26th. We encourage RUHS Students, RUHS Clubs, RUHS Teams, RUHS Groups, and RUHS Families to register as "Trunk Participants" to decorate their cars or e-bikes and join us for this fun-filled event that will be open to the community. Trunk or Treat Event Details:

On October 26th, this FREE event at the RUHS Auditorium Lawn & Parking Lot will feature a mini silent auction, food trucks, face painting, RBPD K9 Cadbury, an inflatable Obstacle Course, voting for your favorite Decorated Trunk, live music, and a lot of "trunk" or treating for all! Costumes are encouraged and we look forward to seeing you there!

  • 11 AM to 2 PM - General Admission; FREE for all ages
  • 10 AM to 11 AM - Early Access Hour; FREE for our community members who may benefit from a quieter event space (no music, no sounds, no strobe lights) and before larger crowds arrive at 11 AM

 

RB LIBRARY

Redondo Beach Public Library is hosting a “Teen Creepy Movie Event”. Please join them for the following two nights.

supporting kids with special needs and our public schools. Join TEAM RUHS and find out! Sign up your friends, family, co-workers and even your pets. This is also a great opportunity for family members and grandparents from out of town to support RUHS.

THEATER ARTS

It’s the miracle you’ve been waiting for! RUHS Theatre Arts proudly presents: Matilda, the Musical! Join us in the RUHS Auditorium October 17, 18, 19 at 7:00 pm and October 20 at 2:00 pm! Tickets can be purchased for $15.00 before October 17th at 5 pm at www.ruhsdrama.com, after which they move to $20. RUHS students can purchase 1 ticket each for $10. We hope you will join us for this fantastical story brought to life from the page to the stage!

WELLNESS CENTER

Student Athletic Workshop “Staying Mentally Strong”. Olympian and Therapist, Monica Chernoff to lead the workshop on 10/22 at lunch in the Wellness Center.

 

Do you sometimes feel totally numb, stressed, anxious, or panicky?  Do you tend to overwork yourself to make everything perfect?  Sign up for our Mindfulness Group on Thursdays at snack/ssh in the Wellness Center starting 10/17.  Scan the QR code to sign up!

 

 

Our drop-in Stress Management Group launched this week and will continue every Tuesday in the Wellness Center from 10:15-11:00 a.m. during snack and SSH

 

On 10/8, the Wellness Center is hosting an amazing student-led workshop at lunch Learning Styles led by Cristina Couch.  All students are welcome!

 

On 10/10, we are hosting therapist Luisa Bernardino to speak about healthy vs red flag relationships.  All students are welcome!
