Calendar Update (Reminder)
There will be a change to our bell schedule on the following dates:
- Tuesday, January 21
- Monday, March 17
- Monday, May 12
- Monday, June 2
Previously scheduled to start at 9:25 am, these four dates will now follow the “8:30 am Stacked (A) Schedule” available on the Bell Schedule tab of our school website. There will be no zero period on these days.
On our school website, the RUHS SY 24-25 Weekly Calendar and RUHS SY 24-25 Community Calendar have also been updated to reflect the bell schedule changes on the four dates noted above.
We will communicate reminders to the community in advance of each date.
CAL KIDS
To help give parents/caregivers a kickstart to saving, the state of California has officially launched the nation’s largest college savings program. The California Kids Investment and Development Savings (CalKIDs) program will help eligible low-income families with students enrolled in public school’s access college savings created in their children’s names, with seed investments between $500 and $1,500. Children of low-income families currently in grades 1-12, and newborns born in California on or after July 1, 2022, qualify. Click here to learn more and to set-up an account. “Did you know that RBUSD schools are among South Bay Families Connected's 115 Partner Schools? Through this partnership, our parents and staff have free access to resources and educational events addressing a wide array of youth wellness topics, from healthy tech use to substance use prevention. We invite you to attend any of their upcoming events, including screenings of the new Screenagers film and the fentanyl prevention film “Come Back Home", as well as the monthly Families Connected Parent Chat support group. Guest passes can also be picked up at our ASB Finance office. Your ticket includes the following: Food Trucks, Ice Cream Truck, Coffee/Chai Tea Cart, Gaming Truck, VR Station, Gaming Stations, DJ, three Photo Booths, Karaoke, and much more!

Class of 2025 Edison Scholars Scholarship Opportunity
Edison Scholars recognizes students who want to be makers of tomorrow – the dreamers, inventors, guardians and pioneers – those that dare to be great. Each year, $50,000 scholarships are awarded to 30 high school seniors who want to make a difference in the world by studying science, technology, engineering, or math (STEM) in college. Student requirements: Students must live in Southern California Edison’s service area; be a high school senior with a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA; major in eligible STEM field at a four-year accredited college/university; demonstrate financial need. RUHS PTSA invites our entire community to our first RUHS Trunk or Treat event on Saturday, October 26th. This FREE event at the RUHS Auditorium Lawn & Parking Lot will feature a mini silent auction, food trucks (including Surfer Taco, Felice Italian Wood Fired Pizza Truck, & Kettle Corn King), face painting, RBPD K9 Cadbury, an inflatable Obstacle Course, voting for your favorite Decorated Trunk, live music, and a lot of "trunk" or treating for all! Costumes are encouraged, and we look forward to seeing you there!

Free/Reduced Meals:
For the 2024-25 school year, Redondo Beach USD will be participating in the California Universal Meals Program, which allows every student to receive one free breakfast and one free lunch each day at their school.
Although meals are free of charge, families are still highly encouraged to submit a meal application. The information collected on the meal application provides additional funding for the District and may offer other household benefits including qualification for ELO-P, exam and application fee waivers, P-EBT funds and other discounted costs.

SCHOOL SITE COUNCIL
Hello Sea Hawks!
The RUHS School Site Council (SSC) is looking for two students to fill two positions. Nineteen candidates have expressed an interest in participating in School Site Council as student representatives. Please review each candidate below and vote for two candidates to begin serving on the SSC in the 2024-2025 school year. Please enter your selections no later than Monday, October 28 by 4:00 PM.
The SSC meets three times per year and is composed of the school's principal and representatives from school faculty, staff, students, and parents. Members of the council serve a two-year term. The purpose of the SSC is to annually develop, review, and modify Redondo Union High School's Single Plan for Student Achievement as well as serve as advisers on student needs at RUHS.

Calling all freshmen! The only thing scarier than ghosts and ghouls this Halloween is failing your benchmarks! Link Crew is hosting a freshmen study session to support you after school on Tuesday 10/22. There will be Link Crew leaders who are more than happy to assist you as you prepare for your upcoming exams and hot chocolate to keep you motivated.
