Principal's Message

Welcome to the 2024-2025 school year! 

I am so excited to return to RUHS after 10 years I spent teaching and as assistant principal here. It’s an honor and I am humbled to serve as RUHS principal. Along with me, there are a lot of new staff joining the RUHS family. 

We are excited to welcome two new members to the administrative leadership team: Ms. Christina Sunada, Assistant Principal and Ms. Joylyn Ramian, Assistant Principal. 

Our CTE department is excited to welcome Mr. Brett Griffith, Digital Photo, Ms. Yolanda Kol, Computer Science and Game Design, Ms. Merlan Land, Marketing and Finance, and Ms. Christina Martin, Culinary Arts. 

Our English department is excited to welcome Ms. Alison Michalak, 9th and 10th grade English, Ms. Emily Vose, 9th and 11th grade English, Ms. Alexis Buhler, 10th and 12th grade English, and Ms. Nicole MacKenzie, 10th grade English. 

Our Math department is excited to welcome Ms. Casey Waddell, Algebra 1 and Geometry, Ms. Katie Draffen, Algebra 1 and Algebra 2, and Ms. Simrun Ursani, Geometry and Algebra 2. 

Our Science department is excited to welcome Ms. Cheri Allen, Biology, and Ms. Lauren Moody, Biology. 

Our Special Education department is excited to welcome Mr. Brian Notch, English, LSM, and Head Coach for Wrestling.

Our Visual and Performing Arts department is excited to welcome Ms. Gema Guzman, Digital Photo and Art, and Mr. Fred Steiner, Marching Band and Jazz Band. 

Our World Languages department is excited to welcome Ms. Jingshi Peng, Chinese 2 and Chinese 3. Please take a moment to extend a friendly hello to the newest members of the Sea Hawk Family. 

This school year, our RUHS staff and students must have a THING. What is a THING and how do you find your THING? You find your THING by realizing your passion and purpose. 

Passion is something we look forward to doing. Our passion is exciting, motivating and brings us inner peace and happiness. 

Purpose is the reason behind what we do and is more focused than passion. Purpose blends what we love with why we are doing it. 

Jack Canfield said, “Passion is about pursuing the things that make YOU happy, while purpose is using your unique talents to make OTHER people happy.” 

So what’s your THING?  Together we will encourage each other to identify, practice, and connect others to their THING.
